What We Can't Live Without With.

March 24, 2017

Everyone has a few essential items that they cannot live without. Here at Ursa Major we believe in quality over quantity. In an effort to curate the life that we design for ourselves, here are some must-haves that Melissa, Tricia and Valerie definitely cannot live without:

Melissa // the maximum minimalist

“I’m always looking to get the best bang for my buck. These items are useful to me all year round and keep my style and look fresh for every occasion.”

  1. Smith’s Rosebud Salve Tube “Not only because I constantly misplace them, but I’ve loved this lip balm for as long as I can remember. It’s the perfect texture and scent.”
  2. Moleskine Classic Notebook, Squared “Always with me, different entries every time. This notebook is perfect for sketching, scheduling, thought-jotting and the like.”
  3. Scoop Tee “Sometimes I swear our designer Valerie designed this shirt for me. It has the perfect neckline for my taste and I love wearing it oversized and tucked into my high-waist jeans or as a coverup on my way to hot yoga.”
  4. Converse Chuck Taylor Monochrome High Top “I remember my dad, a Filipino college basketball star, owning a pair of All Stars when I was little. I love that I can take that same shoe into my feminine style.”

Tricia // the laid back queen of comfort

“I shop for comfort and versatility. I love when I can take a piece and work it into my weekly rotation without it ever feeling tired or stale.”

  1. Swell Water Bottle  “I drink a ton of water throughout the day and my Swell Bottle is perfect to throw in my bag when I’m on the go. I love that it’s insulated, reusable, and comes in a variety of colors and patterns.”
  2. MUJI erasable pen “I’m a sucker for all things stationery related - desk accessories, notebooks, pens, etc. I keep a stash of these pens at home, at my desk, and in my bag. They’re erasable too which helps keep calendars and notes tidy and easy to read.”
  3. Tent Dress “I love the relaxed fit of our Tent Dress. For a casual look, i’ll pair it with a denim vest and my favorite sneakers and to dress it up, I’ll throw on my leather jacket and a pair of boots.”
  4. Beauty Counter Cleansing Balm “I am obsessed with Beauty Counter products, particularly their cleansing balm which I use as a makeup remover, cleanser, moisturizer, overnight mask PLUS it's great at soothing sunburn. They call it the Swiss Army Knife of Beauty! I also always pack a small container of it in my carryon when I travel.”

Valerie // the found object soul searcher

“I become obsessed with random things- sometimes without even knowing what or how I will use them. But I definitely always look for things that are versatile, functional and a little bit funky.”

  1. Essential oils and Diffuser “I Just began learning about the different uses and benefits of essential oils! I love to use directly on my skin but also love to put a little peppermint oil into the diffuser when I want to freshen up my home or feel energized. At night before going to bed I add a little lavender oil for a mellow mood.”
  2. Everlane Leather Street Shoe  “Living in Hawaii I don’t often wear actual shoes, but I love having this pair of shoes in my arsenal. Neutral, stylish and pairs well with any outfit.”
  3. Ursa Major Lounge Pant (style in-progress) “This is a yet to be released style, but ever since I sewed up the prototype I have lived in them! So comfortable, flattering and able to be dressed up or down. A perfect addition to the Ursa Major core collection.”
  4. Spotify  “It seems like my days are only getting busier and busier, and since I cut back on the caffeine music has been fueling my every waking moment! I love spotify because I can listen to all of my old favorites and discover a lot of new music as well.”

As tempting as it is during this time of the year, we are resisting the urge to shop big sales. Why must we have 10 of a $5 item when we could have 1 of a beautiful $50 piece? The economics just don’t make sense to us…
